Watch: Punk Beats, Bloodies Desperate Trooper, Then a Cowboy Rolls up

A recent video of a policeman wrestling with a crazed criminal revealed the dangers our law enforcement officers face on a daily basis.

The video, captured by an eyewitness back in February of this year, caught the scene that unfolded after what began as an traffic stop on New York’s Southern State Parkway in Long Island, New York.

WABC-TV reported that a state trooper pulled over a vehicle near Exit 19S and a struggle ensued. When the trooper tried to arrest the driver, the driver began driving away with the trooper hanging from the window.

The car eventually crashed into a median and that’s when the eyewitness began recording.

The trooper, who was inside the car at this point, wrestled the driver out of the car. His face was bleeding, but he never let go of the driver.

While the two men scuffled in the road, two other motorists — one of them wearing a cowboy hat — rushed to the scene and helped the trooper subdue the man.

“A couple good Samaritans hopped out of their vehicles, when the officer got the guy, the suspect, out of the car, and as he tried to get him restrained, two good Samaritans came out of their car and held the guy down,” a witness told WABC.

Fox News reported the driver, Kyreem Kelly, 29, was originally pulled over for texting while driving. He now faces a litany of charges that include aggravated assault upon a police officer, second-degree assault, first-degree reckless endangerment and resisting arrest.

The trooper was treated at a hospital for head injuries, and was expected to make a full recovery.

Take a look:

This video shows how relentless and brave police officers must be when pursuing some criminals. Kelly wasn’t going to give up easily, and this trooper faced multiple dangers during the fight.

Thank goodness they have the strength to persevere, and thank goodness for the good Samaritans that came to his rescue — we need more people like them in the world.

VIDEO: Hilarious Viral Police Recruitment Video May Be Best Ever

The New Zealand Police Department released a hilarious recruitment video that has gone viral.

Thorndon, Wellington NZ – The Internet has credited the New Zealand Police Department (NZPD) with posting one of the funniest law enforcement recruitment videos ever (video below.)

The video begins with a police raid that looks to be right out of a police television show. It shows police close in on a warehouse to the background music of bagpipes and drums.

Suddenly, the police officer leading the raid stops with a puzzled look on her face, turns around, and hushed the band that is standing just off to the side providing background music, as if a troupe of 16 bagpipers and drummers back up all the Kiwi SWAT raids.

That set the tone for the entertaining, three-minute recruitment video shared via the web by the police department on Nov. 25.

The video showcased the breadth of their department, featuring an appearance from New Zealand’s top ranking Police Commissioner Mike Bush, and one of the department’s newest recruits, Zion Leaupepe, who opens and closes the video, according to the New Zealand website Stuff .

The video featured 70 actual members of the NZPD, a real police band, and a police dog and cat (yes, a police cat!)

Police helicopters made a cameo, but the police officers themselves were the highlight of the reel, performing some pretty impressive gymnastics. The New Zealand police did not use stuntmen to create the video because their own officers are so multi-talented.

“NZ police are striving to increase our overall staff numbers over the next three years to meet our objective of being the safest country, and to deliver on the Government’s signaled staffing increase,” Commissioner Bush said.

He said NZPD police recruiters were targeting 18-to-24 year olds, women, Maori, Pacific Islanders, and people from all different ethnicities and backgrounds “to better reflect the communities we serve.”

“We also need recruits who are happy to be based in the Auckland area,” he said.

Karen Jones, deputy chief executive of public affairs, said they are looking for people who want to bring their own problem-solving skillsets to the job.

“There are more than 30 different career paths within NZ police and it was really important to demonstrate the range of options for people who may be considering joining us,” Deputy Chief Jones said.

Woman: Cashier Refused Service For Pro-Police Shirt

A woman has said she was the victim of discrimination, reporting that an employee at grocery chain Kroger would not serve her because she was wearing a pro-police “Blue Lives Matter” shirt.
The woman, identified only as Meredith, reported that she went to the grocer in Spring, Texas in October 2016 and a cashier wouldn’t ring her up because of the “Police Lives Matter” slogan on her shirt, according to KTRK.
“She made me feel ashamed to have the shirt on and I don’t appreciate that,” said Meredith, who said the teenage cashier stepped away after seeing her shirt to talk to a coworker.

“She was stating that the shirt I had on was basically a slap in the face to her and she was doing everything she could not to cry,” said Meredith, whose husband is a police officer.
Another cashier rang Meredith out. She said that she never spoke directly to the cashier who reportedly had a problem with her shirt.

A representative for Kroger said that the report was being looked into. Meredith said she has contacted Kroger about it more than once but hasn’t received a response.
She said that she doesn’t want the employee to be fired, but didn’t want anyone to be turned away for their beliefs.

“It’s important that people in the service industry know that no matter what, if someone walked in with a Black Lives Matter shirt on they needed to still be serviced,” said Meredith.

According to Snopes, Blue Lives Matter’s website also reported that a female police officer had been denied service for being a police officer, though the story has reportedly not been verified by other sources.

According to Snopes, Blue Lives Matter’s website also reported that a female police officer had been denied service for being a police officer, though the story has reportedly not been verified by other sources.

The officer reported that they had been at a Kroger in Alexandria, Louisiana, with her six-year-old daughter when she got to the checkout line. According to the officer, the cashier asked her if she was a cop, before telling her that she needed to speak to her supervisor.

“When she came back to the counter she stated, ‘My supervisor is tied up right now,'” said the officer. “I asked, ‘What’s the deal?’ She replied, ‘I can not check you out because you are police officer and I can’t check you out because you are a cop and I have issues with the police right now.’ At which I replied, ‘You have to be kidding me right?’ She stated ‘No, I am not.’ I then stated ‘If this is the case I would like to speak to your supervisor myself because this is unacceptable to treat a customer this way.'”
She then said that the cashier’s supervisor came. He reportedly told the employee that she needed to check out every customer. The officer then reported that she said she could go to the media to tell them about the incident.

“I stated that she was an embarrassment to the store treat people that way,” said the officer. “I also told him that he, as a manager, should be embarrassed for the poor job at making not making an attempt to correct the situation that he, himself, was an embarrassment to Kroger’s.”
Kroger offered a statement and apology after the report.

“We were disappointed and sorry to hear about the incident in Alexandria, Louisiana,” said the company. “We’re especially saddened by how it reflects on the 431,000 Kroger associates who work hard to serve every customer in communities all across America.”

“We want our customers, associates and the law enforcement community to know how deeply we appreciate and honor our police officers and the other first responders who put their lives on the line to keep us safe every day,” Kroger said in its statement. “We’ve taken steps to ensure this doesn’t happen again – and we are reminding associates that is our responsibility to honor our company values of Diversity and Inclusion and treating our customers with Integrity and Respect in every interaction, every day. Our goal is always to create a welcoming, hospitable environment for all customers.”

Waitress Approaches 6-Year-Old’s Birthday Party, What She Says Next Sends Mom Shedding Tears

Unexpected acts of random kindness are… well… unexpected. Most everyone can probably count on one hand the number of times an absolute stranger did anything even remotely kind for them.
Boy Scouts are known to help little old ladies cross the street. Rather than just let it slam in their face, some people will hold the door open as they are exiting their neighborhood 7-11 at the same time another person is trying to enter.

Sure, these are nice things to do for another. But what happens when an act of kindness is so unexpected and off-the-wall, and we don’t even know who was responsible?
This is exactly what happened at an Applebee’s in Washington, Pa. A stranger did something for Jolie Welling and her family they will not forget anytime soon.

Welling was in the Applebee’s with her 6-year-old daughter, Sofia, a kindergarten student, along with 16 of their friends and family. They were celebrating Sofia’s birthday.
The entire crew was celebrating in style with “drinks, appetizers, and full-course meals.” Welling had baked cupcakes for the occasion and had brought them into the restaurant with her.

After their meals were done, the candles were blown out, and the cupcakes were readily consumed. Then it was time to settle up with the restaurant by paying the tab, which Welling was going to do without anyone else pitching in.
When Welling flagged down the waitress who had been serving them, Samantha Powell, she was in for the surprise of her life when the waitress came over and made an announcement to everyone seated at the table. They could scarcely believe what the server told them.

Someone, unknown to any of them, had anonymously picked up the entire tab. When the waitress said she could not reveal who the stranger had been, Welling, along with all of the guests, began tearing up.

Apparently, the couple who paid the tab has been doing this for years. The restaurant’s assistant manager, Bernie Lewis, says she is sworn to secrecy and will not make the paying couple’s names public.
Powell was able to disclose that they always say one thing. The anonymous man says, “I grew up poor and now I’m not.”

Welling had this to say about the whole thing: “Life is so complicated as it is, and you just work and work and work and struggle, and you try to enjoy every moment you can and having my 6-year-old see that someone did this act of kindness really shows her that there are good people in this world.
<code><iframe width=”836″ height=”470″ src=”https://www.youtube.com/embed/gFWZPpcs49E” frameborder=”0″ allowfullscreen></iframe></code>

Her young daughter Sofia said it made her happy. Because of what happened to them, Welling is now determined to pay it all forward the next time they go out to eat.
While these random acts may not seem to happen quite as often as they perhaps one time did, they still happen. It takes very little effort to be kind to others, and we can all take a lesson from this anonymous stranger who showed just how easy it can be.

They Think Cop Arrived to Shut Down Jam Session. Then He Did the Unthinkable

Let’s face it. More often than not these days police officers get a bad rap.

The nightly news, social media pages, and even YouTube are full of reports and videos depicting them in situations where unnecessary force and roughness has been captured on cell phones. One need not search very far to find one.
The major problem with broadcasting these negative displays is that the good they do never seems to capture quite as much interest. Few bother to film a cop helping someone change a flat or coming to the assistance of someone in need.

It’s important to be aware that these officers of the law are everyday people just like the rest of us. They have families, they go to church, they golf, and they have hobbies like anyone else.

Most importantly, the largest percentage of them just want to do the job they were hired to do before going home to their kids. But we seldom read reports about the good they do.

At Champs Sports Bar and Grill in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, patrons thought the officer who walked through the front door came in to shut down the live music that was being played. Perhaps the volume was a bit too loud and someone living close by complained.
The band was prepared to either turn the down volume or shut down completely as the officer approached the stage. It was then that an interesting turn of events took place, much to the surprise of everyone.

The office had no intention of making the band quit. It was not why he was there at all.

Officer Landis, who was actually just enjoying what he was hearing, decided to join musician Matt Meyer and his band on stage. They were surprised when Landis picked up a violin from the stand it was sitting in.

He then proceeded to join in with the current song, flawlessly finding his groove and going for it, much to the delight of the band and the lucky patrons. Take a listen.
<code><iframe src=”https://web.facebook.com/plugins/video.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fweb.facebook.com%2FChampsSportsBarandGrill%2Fvideos%2F10154880348151381%2F&show_text=0&width=560″ width=”560″ height=”315″ style=”border:none;overflow:hidden” scrolling=”no” frameborder=”0″ allowTransparency=”true” allowFullScreen=”true”></iframe></code>
The old adage “Never judge a book by its cover,” certainly held true in this instance. It’s a shame how the actions of a few can destroy the image of the majority of police officers who take their sworn oath seriously, to serve and protect. Office Landis is truly a shining example.

If you’re encouraged by seeing Officer Landis’ talent and interaction with members of his community, be sure to share this with friends and family on Facebook! We can all use an uplifting story in our day.
